Heavy Lifting Supervisor-Trainer/Mentor - REPL0098 - (1700003U)
Description
 
40%
Operational: Performs and oversees company and contractor lifting activities.
 
1.    Supervises and coordinates all personnel and equipment engaged in lifting activities in close coordination with HSE and other functions relevant to the lifting operation being performed.
2.    Plans and controls the allocation of lifting resources in a manner that will ensure all worksite lifting activities are achieved in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
3.    Participates in lifting risk assessment and the preparation of method statements and lift plans for heavy, complex or critical lifting operations.
4.    Monitors and ensures that daily safety and maintenance checks are carried out and that all equipment is serviceable, clean, free from defects and fit-for-purpose.
5.    Monitors and ensures that recommended routine inspection and maintenance of lifting equipment and support vehicles is performed in accordance with the applicable inspection and maintenance schedules and is properly documented.
6.    Ensures that there is an adequate supply of serviceable lifting aids (slings, shackles, eyebolts, etc.) and that damaged or time expired items are removed and disposed of correctly or are recertified.
7.    Ensures that lifts are within safe working load (SWL) of the equipment and that loads are properly rigged and secure.
8.    Ensures that all equipment is safely and securely stored when not in use.
9.    Monitor and ensure that pre-use examination of lifting equipment is performed to ensure it is clearly marked with SWL, identification number and current color code.
10.  Coordinates cargo loading and offloading tasks for different items (casings, tubing, baskets, containers, loose equipment, etc.)
11.  Ensures that the movement of heavy and wide loads is properly controlled and in accordance with legal requirements.
12.  Provides input to changes to current procedures and work practices in the field necessary to maintain compliance with company legal and regulatory health and safety obligations.
13.  Ensures that all lifting gears are color coded and certified by third party as per Company HSE procedure.
14.  Provide adequate support to the Site unit for any request/doubt related to the lifting.
15.  Technical support in the selection process of contractors/subcontractors for lifting operations.
16.  Technical advisory for lifting process deviations determination.

Control: Monitors performance and compliance and addresses problems as they arise.
 
1.    Inspects, reports and controls all aspect of any lifting operation, ensuring full compliance with relevant design, planning and HSE standards.
2.    Ensures worksite safety rules and practices are followed and assist team members in promoting safety at the worksite.
3.    Carries out audit on contractor lifting equipment and certification.
4.    Monitors and manages certification and visibility of current color code and identification marks of all lifting tools and tackle.
5.    Checks and ensures that company and contractor cranes and lifting equipment are tested, certified and comply with applicable regulations and company and worksite safety standards.
6.    Checks and ensures that company and contractor personnel operating cranes and lifting equipment have current valid certification for the type of equipment being operated.
7.    Performs periodic review of crane logbooks; ensure that they have been completed correctly and are up-to-date.
8.    Participates in identifying lifting related health and safety risks that are present in field operations and construction activities; monitor and report on effectiveness of mitigation measures implemented.
9.    Ensures that there is an adequate supply of serviceable PPE and that PPE is used correctly at all times and damaged or time expired PPE is removed and disposed of correctly.

1.    Directs and supervise lifting team members.
2.    Provides input to develop appropriate staffing level to ensure that lifting functions are handled effectively and efficiently.
3.    Supports team members in meeting needs for employee training, development and skill gap closure.
4.    Coaches team members in order to build their knowledge and skills.
 
Training & Mentoring: Facilitates and conducts HSE training activities to improve team HSE awareness and HSE performance.
 
1.    Works with line manager to identify worksite HSE training requirements and participates in developing the necessary training to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
2.    Monitors implementation and effectiveness of lifting and rigging safety training for company and contractor personnel.
3.    Implements team safety training plan; monitors and ensures that all personnel are up-to-date with their required safety certification and safety training.
4.    Provides continuous mentorship and consultancy within heavy lifting and heavy equipment usage, maintenance and operation scope of work onshore as well as offshore.
5.    Upgrades the level of safety culture, provide workshops and master classes.
6.    Knowledge gaps identification. To increase the competency levels of trainees.
7.    Develops training programs and periodical evaluation of achieved skills levels. Planning & coordination with external providers whenever necessary.
8.    Maintains a lessons learned register for tracking and evaluation.
9.    Ensures continuous improvement and application of knowledge. Periodical evaluation of theoretical and practical knowledge and achieved skills. 
10.  Establishes wide variety of applied training / mentoring techniques.
11.  To be open for discussions and suggestions & new ideas for improvement. Holds periodical brainstorming and class discussions. Ensures continuous improvement and application of up-to-date techniques for safe work execution.
12.  Maintains HSE culture within the team.
 
 
5)            5%
Support and coordination: Implements initiatives to improve team health and safety awareness and health and safety performance.
 
1.    Participates in identifying incentives and initiatives that could be implemented to help promote health and safety awareness and develop a positive team safety culture and a safe and healthy work environment.
2.    Implements and monitors effectiveness of worksite Safety Tool Box talks.
3.    Undertakes any ad hoc responsibilities assigned by HSE Superintendent with an aim of obtaining worksite support in carrying out the planning and implementation of health and safety initiatives.
 
 
Qualifications
 
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 12 year’s operational experience in onshore and offshore crane operations and heavy lifting activities, with 5 years in a supervisory position.
